Preschool lessons are so important. Math, reading and writing. It is up to us as parents to make sure our children get the best start they can. How can you help your child with these areas? Here are a few ideas.
Speaking and Listening
Encourage your child:
by showing them how to greet people,
to use a telephone,
to sing rhymes, songs and chants,
to practice following instructions,
by modeling how to be an active listener through nodding and making eye contact,
to play dress ups and role play characters from favorite stories,
by encouraging talk and description when using a range of toys and materials for play and craft .
Reading
Make a regular time for reading together.
Talk about books.
Give your child a range of books to read.
Join the local library.
Read old favorites again and again and soon your child will be reading them to you.
Writing
Provide a range of materials to encourage writing and drawing.
Write together.
Write signs and labels for things around the house with your child.
